Drawn by hand, mostly at the kitchen table

Monsters, misfits and one
very stubborn dragon.

Dawson's Doodles is a growing pile of sketchbook comics about the creatures that turn up when you stop paying attention. New pages go up whenever the pencil says so.

Dragon, Interrupted

So much for being a knight in shining armour. The dragon is unmoved.

The Guardians of Pottyland

Everyone got a job title and a weapon. Nobody got a plan.

A doodle character mid-comeback

Every doodle starts as a bad idea.

No thumbnails, no plan, no undo button. Just a pen, a page and whatever showed up first. That is the whole method, and it is not going to change.

Who is doing this

Hi, I'm Dawson.

I have been filling sketchbooks since I could hold a marker, and at some point it stopped being a phase. Most of what ends up here was drawn in one sitting, without much of a plan.

The characters mostly design themselves. I just keep the pen moving and find out who turns up.
