Hi, I'm Dawson.
I draw monsters. Also dragons, skateboards, and whatever else turns up when the pen starts moving. This is where it all ends up.
How this started
It was supposed to be a phase.
I have been filling sketchbooks since I could hold a marker. At some point the stack got tall enough that people started asking to see them, and it stopped being a phase and started being a habit.
Nothing here is planned. There are no thumbnails, no layout pass and definitely no undo button. A page starts as one shape in the corner and grows outward until it runs out of paper.
The rules
Four things I try to stick to.
One sitting. If it takes two, it usually gets worse.
Pen first. Pencil is a way of stalling.
Keep the mistakes. They are the interesting part.
If a character talks, let it finish.
The characters mostly design themselves. I just keep the pen moving and find out who turns up.
